The Community Faith Partnership is a "between-the-congrega-
tions mobilization" of the Christian church in our community.
We are dedicated to the idea that a sovereign God has a will
which is expressed well in the Bible, and our purpose is to
work toward "His will being done on earth as it is in heaven."
Central within the expressed will of God is His intention
that we are to serve one another, and care for one another --
extending the blessings we've received to help others in need.
For more than six years, the Community Faith Partner-
ship has worked quietly in Ithaca and Tompkins County to
build a network of human caring, resources, and expertise
within the local congregations of the Christian community.
Starting from existing relationships, we have worked to
connect a growing team of local Christians with effective
strategies to model and teach faith-based renewal, recovery
from addictions, and long-term spiritual success.
We began by offering faith-based life-skills training.
That led us into 1-on-1 outreach at the county jail. Our jail
visitations led us to helping individuals trying to break free of
addictions as they work to successfully transition back into our
community. That led us to building a network of people who
have knowlege and experience connecting those in need with
resources and services throughout our area. We continue to
envision, explore, and build faith-based resources which are
made possible by the talent and the generosity of the whole
Christian community.
There are three primary elements of our current ministry:
(1) Friday Night Fellowship in which friendship and life-skills
training is offered, (2) Wednesday and Sunday Night Jail Visits
where Bible-study is provided and relationships formed with
interested jail residents, and (3) Community Events through
which we seek to impart and enlarge a vision for Christian
service between and beyond the local congregations.
The local congregations and organizations which consider
themselves "Community Faith Partners" are listed on page 5 in
this newsletter. We invite you to join us -- and help us grow.
OUR MISSION
Uniting Christians to improve the welfare of our neighbors through:
Relationships across organizational, racial and economic barriers;
Discovery of personal vocation through spiritual growth; and
Service which demonstrates God's care for every individual.
