We are now seeking volunteers to help rebuild a roof on a one-story home in Nate's Floral Estates (behind Wegmans) in Ithaca on Saturday, September 26. The home is owned by a disabled woman who has had a series of health issues and is at the point of having to move if the roof is not fixed. Once the roof is fixed a number of county agencies stand ready to provide other needed repairs to make the home more safe, winter-ready and handicap accessible.

In addition to the roof work, volunteers are needed to help on the ground and to help fix food for the workers. THE CARE NETWORK

We are building a network of care throughout our county to give skilled evaluations and advice to those with housing related problems. The CARE (Construction and Repair Experts) Network exists to help widows, older people and others with needs to maintain the physical condition of their homes and preempt debilitating repair costs through timely advice, congregation-based assistance, and wise referral to professionals as appropriate.

We would like to grow a network of Christian volunteers and professionals from different congregations, living in different parts of Tompkins County, who are gifted in all aspects of home maintenance and repair. We want to invite area pastors to call CFP when they know of a deserving person who faces a home maintenance issue that is beyond the capacity of their congregation. Our purpose would be to mobilize practical gifts and talents, prevent emergencies, strengthen congregational abilities, and build a demonstration of effective Christian service in action.
