In May we began offering weekly Holistic Hardware life-skills training at the Tompkins County jail to teach men how faith, relationships, self-discipline and other personal steps can transform their lives. Holistic Hardware is a small-group faith-based training in 10 subjects such as Vision, Responsibility, Planning, Discipline and Work. For more information go to: www.holistichardware.com
Our women's visiting team also recently responded to requests from the women and began offering a weekly Sunday worship group. We're always looking for men and women willing to assist our jail outreach team. Call Jim Crawford for information @ 347-4393 or email him at jcrawford@baka.com.
OUR LIFE-ExCHANGE PROGRAM
Almost from the beginning of the Faith Partnership, men and women volunteers have visited the county jail to share their Christian faith and build relationships. Our goal is to promote Christian faith as the cornerstone of successful re-entry into the community, recovery from addictions, and ability to lead meaningful and productive lives. In cooperation with the Sheriff, Social Services, the Red Cross and other agencies, we work to stop the revolving door of incarceration.
There are also people needing help in our neighborhoods who have never been to jail. We work with individuals one-on-one to answer their questions about Christian faith, help them find a congregation they can become a meaningful part of, and help them build vital friendships with people who can offer consistent community-based support.
This program is only as strong as our resources of volunteers and funds allow. To make a donation or to volunteer click HERE. |
