When we determined that our Friday Night Fellowship would meet every
Friday, regardless of the calendar, we knew we would run into a holiday
sooner or later. That expectation was fulfilled this past December when
Christmas Eve (and New Year's Eve) fell on a Friday. As a group, we
decided Christmas Eve would be a perfect occasion for a party. So we
invited various family members to join us for the Bethel Grove Bible
Church candle-light service and shared a cooked meal afterwards.
What a feast, as 28 adults and 6 kids gathered for lasagna and
eggplant parmesan catered with funds we raised at 4 Chicken
Barbeques at Ithaca Agway in 2004. Our party turned into a
celebration of three Christmas birthdays -- one for Austin, one
for Nancy, and one for Jesus. Friday Fellowship is planned, in
large part, to facilitate building relationships with one another.
What a fine opportunity this event was!
We have found comfort, friendship and support in the
people God has brought together on Friday Nights and 2004
was a year which saw three-fold growth in our group's size.
Friday Nights are fun. They are also a time of spiritual growth
and prayer. We are already looking forward to another Christ-
mas party at the end of one more year of growing together.

Another thing we decided to do, as a Friday Night group, is to read the Bible daily --
and read the full New Testament through the course of 2005. The "Holistic Hardware
Bible" which we use (see more about that on page 5) has a reading schedule in the back
and we are encouraging one another to stay on track with this group and personal goal.
Now, when we meet, we try to bring a scripture or a question from our week's
reading to talk about in the group which creates discussions that are interesting, inspir-
ing and directly apply to the circumstances we are living in. The Word of God works!
Through the New Testament in a Year
"During the course of the ministry of CFP, we encountered a man bound by addiction
and we perceived spiritual forces which were affecting him both emotionally and physically. Two of us
decided to join in prayer, to believe that God would fulfill what Jesus has declared -- that He came to give such men and
women `freedom for the captives and release from darkness for the prisoners.'
For three weeks we prayed, after which one of us met with him again. On that occasion his eyes were noticeably
different. He expressed a desire to live like us and began to ask a barage of searching questions. A few weeks later this
man committed his life to Christ. He has been walking free of his addictions over the course of a whole year since that
time -- real evidence of the power of intercession for and with one another." We invite intercessors to join this ministry!
