Winter-Spring 2005
(October 1998 the Present)
The Faith Partnership is a network of Christian men and women from over 11 Ithaca area congregations who
provide ongoing services and Christian ministry to people who are in crisis, and difficult transitions. Over more
than six years, we have worked cooperatively with pastors, landlords, local judges, the Sheriff, the Probation
Director, the Red Cross Emergency Shelter, Social Services and many other agencies to provide care and
support to some of our neighbors in need. We, and our partners in faith, provide services such as:
-- HOLISTIC HARDWARE TRAINING
-- FRIENDSHIP & MENTORING
-- SHORT TERM HOUSING
-- ASSISTED REFERRALS
-- ADVOCACY CONTACTS
-- RENTAL ASSISTANCE
-- CHURCH INTRODUCTIONS
-- JUDICIAL MONITORING
-- FRIDAY NIGHT FELLOWSHIP
-- FREE BIBLES & BIBLE STUDIES
-- TRANSPORTATION ASSISTANCE
-- TOMPKINS COUNTY JAIL VISITATION
-- INTER-AGENCY COORDINATION
The Community Faith Partnership: Outreach and Services
"Currently, Gladys Brangman and I visit the women inmates at Tompkins County Jail every Sunday evening for
conversation, prayer and Bible study. Even if no one comes out for a session with us, we've found that our
consistent presence helps the women trust that we'll be there each week.
We welcome anyone who feels called to minister with us. (The men's Jail Visitation Team is also inviting new
members.) If you've been hesitating stepping into jail visitation, remember that every individual brings with them
a specific testimony regarding their life struggles and their walk with God. That story may be exactly what one of
the inmates needs to hear. In addition, jail visitation will draw you closer to Christ as you see Him intercede in
individual lives with grace, love, and saving power." --Sheila Enstine (Danby United Methodist Church)
"Although each Friday Night Fellowship event is unique, they are always enjoyable and blessed. We always
start with cards or fellowship and end with discussion and prayer. Even when no cards are shuffled, Jinga
blocks toppled, or darts tossed, we can sit around the table and spend a some time in in fruitful conversation.
Our discussions are about what is going on in each of our lives and we always think about what the scrip-
tures have to say about our circumstances. We continue to do the Holistic Hardware life skills training, on
Friday nights, and in smaller groups during the week.
The group is made more interesting by each and every person who takes the time to join us. Please con-
sider joining us, even for a visit. We meet between 7:30 and 9:30pm every Friday in space provided by New
Life Victory Center, 609 W. Clinton Street behind CVS, downtown." --Marty Wells (Bethel Grove Bible Church)
