Faith is also available upon

One of our greatest aspirations in this community is to facilitate
effective outreach efforts which are conducted through many
local congregations. In the last months of 2004, there were three
instances where the Faith Partnership was
able to collaborate with men, women, and
even children
within three different local
congregations. Two of the efforts originated
in the congregations and one began with us.
Thanksgiving Turkeys:
In early November, we received a call
from New Life Victory Center which is led
by pastor Bob Clark. One of the men in the
congregation had taken it upon himself to
buy frozen turkeys through a promotion at
Wegmans. He was asking for our help
finding families who the congregation could
bless with a turkey for Thanksgiving. We
identified 9 such families and helped to
make the deliveries.
Bibles for the County Jail:
Then we received a letter from pastor
Jack Osburn of the Enfield Baptist Church,
with a check enclosed. One of their Sunday
School classes had decided to take up an offering to buy Bibles to send to the residents of
the Tompkins County Jail. The kids had sent an amount sufficient to buy a case of Bibles.
We have been very pleased with a "Holistic Hardware Bible" (pictured on page 2)
which is published by the American Bible Society and is available in the paperback format
the jail requires. This Bible is in the Contemporary English Version (CEV) which is very
easy to read and understand and contains the complete Old- and New-Testaments, as well
as maps and reader's helps. Best of all, this Bible
has a schedule in the back for reading through the
whole Bible in one year -- as well as pages that
present all the lessons of the Holistic Hardware
life skills training we conduct.
A case of Bibles was ordered, which will
have nameplates (right) placed in the front, to be
given to the men and women CFP visits weekly.
A Child at Christmas:
Finally, in December we received a call from a staff member of the Ithaca Drug Court
about a woman who suddenly learned that her daughter would be coming to stay with her
over Christmas. The woman's Trumansburg apartment was ill prepared for a 9-year-old
girl. Tim and Vicky Hamilton of Calvary Baptist Church (and their 10 yr. old daughter)
brought her decorations, a gift certificate for a tree, some Christmas music and a gift for
the daughter. Vicky and her daughter were invited back to visit, on Christmas Day.
