Around the Community

More than just creating our own events and programs, CFP is pleased to have a large network of organizations, churches, and campus ministries that are doing wonderful things in the name of Christ, and we want to promote what they are doing as well.

We would love to become a hub for events going on all around the community, so there is a one-stop location to find volunteer opportunities and Christian events going on at any given time. If you have an event or organization to feature, please fill out the form on the "Contact Us" tab.

Free Biblical Counseling

www.westgroton.org/counseling

A local church, West Groton Bible Church, offers free biblical counseling to individuals, couples, and families. The biblical counseling ministry exists to help people with their problems, to know Jesus Christ, to help people become more and more like Christ, and to glorify God.

West Groton Bible Church believes that God has provided answers to all problems through His Word. The Bible contains everything that is necessary to live a life that is pleasing to God. Scripture is also sufficient to provide the answers and solutions to every problem one encounters that requires counseling.

The Word of God addresses issues that affect people including: anxiety, worry, fear, depression, anger, relational problems, sexual problems, substance and alcohol abuse, and other issues of life. God addresses all of these issues in His Word, the Scriptures.

Pastor Travis is a certified biblical counselor through the Institute of Nouthetic Studies and the Association of Certified Biblical Counselors (ACBC).

Young Life Tompkins County

www.younglife.org

We believe in the power of presence. Kids' lives are dramatically influenced when caring adults come alongside them, sharing God's love with them. Because their Young Life leader believes in them, they begin to see that their lives have great worth, meaning and purpose.

Tompkins County Younglife currently has volunteer leaders placed in Boynton Middle School and Ithaca High School, but get to know middle and high school students from all around the area.

Campus on a Hill

www.campusonahill.com

The vision of Campus On A Hill is the ongoing process of mobilizing the whole Body of Christ at Cornell and in Ithaca to strategically focus all of its resources on reaching the whole campus with the whole Gospel, resulting in the redemption of society and the transformation of the community. Ultimately, Campus On A Hill is simply about JESUS - to know him and to make him known. Revival will come when we set our eyes on the only thing that is needed: Jesus Christ.

Ithaca Rescue Mission

www.rescuemissionalliance.org/ithaca-region

The Ithaca Rescue Mission provides emergency shelter and affordable permanent housing for those experiencing homelessness. Our Friendship Center and community food pantry are open to the public daily for those who are hungry or need a welcoming place to come in from the elements.

Ithaca’s low vacancy rates and rental costs are challenging for many.  For someone who has experienced homelessness, the barriers to finding housing can be particularly daunting. Our case managers work step by step with emergency shelter residents to help them find homes, and to develop individualized plans to leave hunger and homelessness behind.

To discover ways to get involved, fill out a Volunteer Application found on their website.

Feed My Starving Children: Ithaca MobilePack

www.ithacamobilepack.org

Feed My Starving Children is a Christian organization which welcomes any and all people to help, so that any and all people might eat. In 6 years 7,522 Ithacan volunteers have packed 1,654,344 meals. They have packed and palleted thousands of scoops of vitamins, veggies, soy, and rice into healthy 6-meal packets to be shared with children in Haiti, Guatemala, Mexico, Liberia and other countries. We coined the phrase “Ithaca Is Generous” and have helped our community live up to that noble description!
